Bringing Your Vision to Life: The Clearview Design Process
Creating a new outdoor space should be an exciting journey, but we know it can often feel overwhelming. When you have a list of goals—from a new driveway and pergolas to native plantings and drainage systems—it’s hard to know where to start.
While not every project requires a formal plan, we believe that a thoughtful design is the foundation of a successful build. Our process ensures two things: you can clearly envision the final result, and our team stays perfectly aligned with your vision every step of the way.
1. Project Snapshot: Modern Front Yard Transformation
The Challenge
-
Transform a sloped, underutilized front yard into a functional outdoor living space. The client requested French door integration, a new seating area, and a tiered retaining wall system to level the terrain.
Our Approach
-
Drone aerials and camera surveys for exact elevation mapping.
-
SketchUp models to visualize the tiered walls and spatial flow.
-
Drought-tolerant softscape palette.
The Results
-
Created a multi-tier yard with a dedicated seating area.
-
Delivered 3D renderings and a detailed hardscape blueprint.
-
Developed a landscape that thrives in the Southern California while keeping the original tree as a focal point.

2. Project Snapshot: The 800 SQ FT Sanctuary
The Challenge
-
The objective was to design a full-scale "California Room" within a tight 800-square-foot limit. The client’s vision was ambitious: a professional outdoor kitchen, an integrated fireplace with a TV lounge, and a fully enclosed pergola equipped with lighting and climate control.
Our Approach
-
Conducted drone aerial surveys to ensure every inch of the layout was optimized for flow and clearance.
-
Researched and sourced high-efficiency fireplace units to ensure proper backflow venting and safety within a covered structure.
-
Navigated strict city setback requirements and building codes to ensure the permanent structures were both legal and functional.
The Results
-
Successfully integrated a high-density feature list without the yard feeling crowded or "over-built."
-
Curated a material palette and color scheme that visually expanded the space, creating an open, inviting atmosphere.
-
Utilized potted greenery to add vibrant color, softening the hardscape edges while maintaining a clean, modern look.

3. Project Snapshot: The Dream Backyard
The Challenge
-
The client wanted to pack a massive "wish list" into a limited footprint: a cocktail pool, outdoor kitchen, fireplace with lounge/TV area, in-ground trampoline, and a putting green. The goal was to maximize every square inch without the yard feeling cluttered or cramped.
Our Approach
-
Used drone aerials and site-specific measurements to map out a high-efficiency layout.
-
Provided a "reality check" on spatial constraints, helping the client weigh the pros and cons of removing an existing dining area to unlock the full potential of the new design.
-
Developed multiple 3D configurations to visualize the yard with and without existing structures.
The Results
-
Delivered high-fidelity 3D renderings and a precise hardscape master plan.
-
Softened the high-function layout with natural materials and strategic softscaping to create a lush, organic vibe.
-
Successfully integrated all high-priority features into a cohesive, flow-oriented outdoor living space.

4. Project Snapshot: Spanish Colonial Revival meets English Cottage
The Challenge
-
Our client’s new home was a "time capsule" that hadn't seen a renovation in decades. The property was dominated by an overwhelming number of palm trees that clashed with the owner’s aesthetic.
-
The initial vision was a blank canvas. By studying the client's lifestyle in their current home and collaborating over curated mood boards, we bridged the gap between uncertainty and a clear design direction. The goal was to reclaim an underutilized front yard and marry three distinct influences:
-
Architectural Styles: Spanish Colonial meets English Cottage charm.
-
The Botanical Palette: A lush mix of Roses, Salvias, and structured Boxwoods.
-
Color Story: A blend of purples, whites, and soft pinks.
-
Our Approach
-
We began by removing five massive palms to open up the "footprint" and reveal the home's true potential. Our process integrated high-tech site analysis with high-touch collaboration:
-
Site Mapping: We utilized aerial drone photography and meticulous physical measurements to create a digital twin of the property.
-
Design Tech: Using a suite of professional tools—AutoCAD for technical precision, SketchUp for 3D modeling, and Lumion for cinematic renderings—we brought the concept to life.
-
Collaborative Refining: Through two intensive in-person strategy sessions and detailed plant-selection workshops, we moved through two rounds of revisions to ensure every petal and path was perfectly placed.
-
The Results
-
We delivered a comprehensive, buildable site plan that transformed an overgrown lot into a structured, romantic landscape. The final design provides the client with a clear roadmap to turn their multi-decade "fixer-upper" into a curated garden sanctuary.A buildable detailed site plan
